The Information Sharing Gateway (ISG), led by The Digital Solutions Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and in collaboration with their public sector partners across the ISG User Community, are now in the final stages of the development of Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) functionality within the system.

This collaborative development, due to be available early Spring 2021, has been enthusiastically designed and developed with the help and support of its users, to further build upon the many benefits organisations already access through their use of the Information Sharing Gateway.

The development will consist of a DPIA tab within the existing suite of functionality where registered users can undertake a standardised digital approach to a DPIA.

The DPIA’s comprehensive design guides users through their DPIA’s with the ability to complete screening, assign and allocate tasks to enable consultation, generate a risk assessment, review and provide easy access to DPIAs for internal and external auditing purposes.

With a familiar and easy to user interface, this new functionality allows the seamless flow of information to form the basis and the creation of data sharing agreements, so providing further efficiencies.

The DPIA is just one of the exciting developments ahead for the ISG for 21/22. The roadmap includes the further development of the system to provide a full suite of functionality to support governance, risk and assurance requirements for data sharing activities. These include; a full data asset Inventory, data processing contracts module, ability to create and store internal sharing agreements, creation of dynamic sharing agreements, data flow mapping, along with other enhancements including API enhancements.
